The Institute for School Innovation (ISI) is a private non-profit organization founded in 1995. The Institute engages in research and development to increase teacher effectiveness through the use of technology and active learning.

ISI disseminates several innovative instructional programs. These include Project CHILD (Changing How Instruction for Learning is Delivered) and CHILD First Steps-Reading. Schools across the United States are using ISI’s teaching and learning systems to redefine classroom instruction.

ISI provides specialist certification for teachers and administrators completing advanced training offered throughout the year. ISI also provides grants and scholarships to assist qualified schools in adopting its programs. ISI has distributed over $5 million in state and private funding to promote innovation in education.

The Institute hosts an annual conference for CHILD educators, as well as district and regional support days for teachers. ISI recognizes educators committed to change and innovation through its "Innovation Sustainer" and "Classroom Champion for Change" awards.

ISI is governed by a volunteer board of directors consisting of K-12 educators, faculty in higher education, as well as business and community leaders committed to education and children's issues. ISI is funded through donations, grants and contracts, and fees charged for its programs and services.
