Lakeshore Learning and the Institute for School Innovation (ISI) have joined forces to create start-up activity kits that enhance opportunities for CHILD teachers to use hands-on active learning to meet academic goals for their students. Teachers work more effectively at the Teacher Station when the rest of the class is actively engaged. And students will stay engaged when the learning activities include games and projects, along with paper/pencil work.
ISI has selected compatible learning games and manipulatives from the vast Lakeshore catalog collection to include in the activity kits for reading, writing, and mathematics for CHILD primary and intermediate clusters. These kits are included in the initial CHILD implementation materials and are shipped directly from Lakeshore.
The Lakeshore Activity Kits also include a standards-based Task Card for each activity. The Task Cards tie directly to core academic standards and skills, offering specific instructions to keep students focused while working independently. Every Task Card includes a challenge level designed to extend the activity for students who are working at higher mastery levels.
