LeapFrog School
The Institute for School Innovation (ISI) has partnered with LeapFrog® School to use LeapFrog technology to enhance Project CHILD classrooms. LeapFrog adds another tool to help teachers create active and engaging learning stations that provide immediate learner feedback.
Reading Task Cards
ISI has created over 240 CHILD Task Cards to use in the CHILD reading classrooms along with the following LeapFrog products:
- Leap Desk®
- Leapster®
- Decodable Books®
- Transitional Readers®
- Leveled Readers®
- Read-It-All Books®
These products are used at the Reading & Listening Station and at the Word Study Station. The Task Cards tie directly to reading skills, offering specific instructions to keep students focused and on task. Every Task Card includes a challenge level designed to extend the activity for students who are working at higher mastery levels.
Each Task Card also shows, at a glance, what skills are embedded in the activity and what supplemental materials may be required, as well as directions explaining the activity to the student. For teachers, the Task Cards also specify where to find additional skill-based activities in the LeapFrog companion software program, Link to Lessons, and which ancillary workbook pages to use.
The Project CHILD/LeapFrog Task Cards are available at no charge to accredited Project CHILD sites. CHILD users should use your login password to access the correlations on-line. Contact the Institute for School Innovation at for more information.
LeapTrack® Personalized Assessment System for Reading, Writing, Mathematics
The LeapTrack® system is used to extend the Textbook Station with interactive technology tools. The LeapTrack system creates a personalized learning path for each student to follow based upon their entry level which is determined by a pre-test. Students then follow their learning path to select interactive activity cards to use with the Leap Pad® (primary cluster) or Quantum Pad® (intermediate cluster) technology tools. The system charts their growth and progress, and notices weak areas where they need more time and help.
The LeapTrack system generates daily skill reports for the teacher, who can use these data to form instructional groups based on student needs. The LeapTrack system also provides personalized reports for parents. These professional-looking reports are generated instantly, saving additional teacher time.
