CHILD First Steps-Reading

CHILD FIRST STEPS – READING is an introduction to the Project CHILD instructional delivery system. It is designed to be implemented in K-5 classrooms during the 90-minute reading block. CHILD FIRST STEPS– READING provides an effective method, along with well-designed materials, to meet the needs of every student in your classroom. Teachers will learn to use the proven research-based CHILD materials and techniques to:

  • increase time-on-task,
  • manage small group independent learning,
  • integrate technology into the reading program,
  • engage students in hands-on station activities,
  • provide leveled activities for remediation and enrichment,
  • differentiate instruction to meet individual needs at the Teacher Station.

When teachers are ready to transition to the full CHILD model that employs teamwork, subject specialization (reading, writing, and mathematics), along with continuous progress multi-year instruction, there will be substantial discounts for the full CHILD cluster fee.
