| Principal Linda Terranova | The current school facility |
Western Academy Charter School (website) in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, has outgrown its current site where it started with Project CHILD in 2003. Linda Terranova, the school’s founder and principal, reports that construction is underway for the new facility which will greatly expand their capacity to serve more students. Western Academy has a unique mission as an Inclusion School, and last year received an “A” grade.
Linda says that part of their success in financing the expansion has been using funds wisely during tough times. She and her teachers aren’t afraid to search for bulletin boards, cabinets and other essentials from schools in the area that have closed. The savings on these items has enabled the school to renew Project CHILD each year to keep current, and for Linda to bring her entire staff, including teacher assistants, to the CHILD National Conference.
Congratulations to Linda and the Western Academy team for their continued growth and success!
This year’s Summer Institute will move from Central Florida to the West Coast (of Florida)! Mark your calendars for June 18-19 and plan now to join the ISI staff in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, 30 minutes south of Tampa.
