Six Imagine middle schools to utilize TEAMS as their instructional framework.
Sixth grade students at six Imagine K-7 charter schools around Florida will begin the year in a new way. Teachers will utilize ISI’s TEAMS instructional model to integrate instructional technology, as well as add interdisciplinary connections and active learning into the middle school curriculum.
A TEAMS team consists of core teachers in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies who work with a common group of students assigned to the team. A TEAMS classroom is set up with learning stations to accommodate multiple ways of learning a particular skill or concept, allowing students to collaborate on projects while the teacher circulates to provide guidance and support.
For more information on the model, visit ISI’s home page at www.ifsi.org.
New and veteran leaders gather to share knowledge and gain experience.

Relevant video clips and interactive team building activities highlighted the workshop sessions at the 2009 CHILD Leadership Academy. |
CHILD administrators met June 18-19 for the CHILD Leadership Academy held near Bradenton, Florida. The goal of the two-day workshop was to provide interactive networking and important information for new and experienced CHILD leaders. Session topics included pro-active problem solving, quality control procedures to raise test scores, Web 2.0 strategies, and connections with the International Alliance for Invitational Education. Team building strategies were implemented throughout the workshop as well.
The workshop included a presentation about RTI (Response to Intervention) by Rob Carroll, CHILD principal from South Heights Elementary in Henderson, KY. Rob discussed how his school is implementing RTI very successfully within the CHILD model. Winky Jenkins-Rice, Director of Educational Programs for ISI, led the group on day one, and Dr. Sally Butzin, ISI Executive Director, conducted the workshop for new CHILD leaders on day two.
To learn more about the CHILD instructional system, order Dr. Sally Butzin’s book at www.ifsi.org.
