Project CHILD 3.0 creates new vision for 21st century schools!

ISI applies for $30M Invest in Innovation Grant

04

The Institute for School Innovation (ISI) has formed a partnership with leaders in education and business to enhance and expand Project CHILD. ISI has applied for an i3 Validation Grant, a federal initiative designed to scale up successful innovations that have not been previously implemented on a wide scale. Project CHILD 3.0 will create a regional network of high-tech/high-touch demonstration schools as replicable models for turning around low performing schools in high poverty neighborhoods.

One of the CHILD 3.0 enhancements will be to create a Project CHILD Virtual Community (PCVC) for online professional learning and collaboration, connecting all CHILD schools with the demonstration schools. CHILD 3.0 classrooms will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology along with the Project CHILD strategies to incorporate the technology into daily classroom instruction. The goal is to have all students performing at or above grade level after completing the three-year CHILD instructional cycle.

The demonstration schools have been selected based upon meeting the demographics required for the grant, and having evidence of success with Project CHILD in selected classrooms. They also had to show the strong commitment from the principal and district leaders to fully implement Project CHILD 3.0 school-wide.

The CHILD 3.0 demonstration schools are:

  • Bob Sikes Elementary, Crestview, FL
  • Cedar Hall Elementary School, Evansville, IN
  • Chamberlain Primary School, New Britain, CT
  • Dishman-McGinnis Elementary School, Bowling Green, KY
  • Highlands Elementary School, Vero Beach, FL
  • Imagine Charter School, Marietta, GA
  • South Heights Elementary School, Henderson, KY
  • Western Academy Charter School, Royal Palm Beach, FL

The CHILD 3.0 educational consulting partners are: Anthrolpologi Educational Research & Development; Evaluation Systems Design, Inc.; International Alliance for Invitational Education; Loving Guidance, Inc. The business partners are: Dell; ePals Inc.; Lakeshore Learning; Leapfrog; Mariner Education Group; Logical Choice Technologies (Promethean); Pearson Digital.

Together this dynamic partnership will provide a validated instructional model filled with innovation, technology, and collaboration with a focus on high student engagement. The school of tomorrow is here today!
