Professional Development for Principals
|
CHILD teachers, administrators, School Board members, and other supporters gathered in Kissimmee, Florida to showcase the 250+ classrooms that are implementing CHILD and First Steps-Reading in the Osceola County Schools. CHILD educators shared ideas with one another, and helped other interested teachers and administrators learn more about the model and the possibilities it might offer for their sites.
ISI and LeapFrog Schoolhouse, Inc. have created an alliance to provide another technology option for CHILD classrooms. CHILD’s standards-based Task Cards will soon be available free of charge for all CHILD educators online through the password-protected area of the www.ifsi.org site. The CHILD Task Cards allow students to work independently with a wide array of LeapFrog products, keeping students engaged and providing immediate feedback to the learner.
CHILD administrators will receive personal attention this year as ISI launches a new Leadership Track for principals new to the model. The Leadership Track includes personal mentoring, classroom walkthrough coaching, connecting with other CHILD administrators, as well as a series of specifically designed leadership workshops during the Annual CHILD Conference.
